A busy river port in bygone days, this ancient market town is noted for its distinctive houses on Bow Street and the hanging Chapel in the old town wall. The battle of Langport 1645 was one of the last battles of the first civil war. There are pleasant places to sit and to stroll by the River Parrett and idyllic walking and cycling on the surrounding Somerset Levels.
