Dating from the early 1800’s these blue lias stone cottages would have originally been thatched. The small lane running in front was the main thoroughfare linking Pibsbury to Langport via Huish Episcopi. After the “new” road was laid the cottages were extended forwards providing two extra very small dwellings then later being combined with the cottages behind, forming the two that are now Withy Cottages.

The stream running in front rises in High Ham and joins the River Yeo in a field or so behind the gardens before that joins the River Parrett, it is believed Withies were washed in the stream and dried in the back gardens before being made in to withy products.
